North, South, East, West: Our Thoughts About Grade 3

When starting something new, especially something as important and exciting as a new school year, it's always a useful exercise to stop and think about how we are feeling about this new thing. Are we excited or anxious? Do we have any questions about it?

At the start of this week, our class participated in a fun activity to help us tune in to our thoughts and feelings about starting Grade 3. We had 4 questions we wanted to answer, and each student wrote their answers on post-it notes. Students wrote their answers down independently and were not obliged to write their names down on their post-its. This way, they could be as honest as they wanted in their answers.

Our 4 questions were:

What do you Need to know about Grade 3?

What Suggestions do you have for our class?

What are you Excited about?

What are you Worried about?

These are great questions to ask your child at home, especially at this time of the school year. They are a great way to know what's on their mind and a creative way to start significant conversations with your children.
